I've been busy with some stuff but I'm back into the writing. Since I'm on vacation this week I figured it was time to hop on the word train and get busy living. My M.O. right now is to put on an album with long sides and write until it's time to flip the record over then write some more. No outline, no safety net, just me and the words and the meandering story that will hopefully take some kind of shape soon enough.
I am thinking of something I could do at my patreon. This is early doors stuff, like this idea is so fresh it's not even a half hour old at this writing. Basically, it's like an alternate version of an established story ... the same story told from a different POV, possibly moving the time frame back or forwards depending on the slant. The obvious choice would be Mojo Rising from Chance's POV, or Bulletproof's POV.
Oooo, that would be interesting. Do I really want to be getting into old Morris Gambol's head all first person and shit?
The wheels are spinning.
This would probably make me want to listen to the Doors again though, and as much as I like the Doors ... they're one of my favs ... I don't want to mess with the current vibe I'm in right now.
What's the vibe? Vintage prog rock, folk, and blues, baby. Talking Yes and Rush, some Jethro Tull. Talking Allman Brothers, Neil Young, even a little Johnny Winter. I'm talking jazz ... post bop Davis, Rollins, Hubbard. Lee Morgan even. MINGUS. Even some modern stuff like Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks Band, Kamasi Washington, etc.
What kind of music would Chance be into?
Oh, even though he was Juney's little brother, Chance was an old soul, so it'd definitely be the Allman Brothers.
Ideas are swirling ...
