I haven't watched that many horror movies this year for Halloween. This isn't by design or on purpose, it's mainly because I've been too busy with other things. I have been doing a lot of reading, both fiction and reference. Ghost of Yōtei has taken up a lot of my time as well. Been doing a little writing as well. I should be writing more, but right now everything feels relaxed with no pressures pulling me one way or the other. I may be closer to mastering the whole 'guiltless' feeling we all strive for, though I think I'll always be trying to master it and forever failing to conquer it once and for all.
That's how things roll.
Going back to movies, the adaptation of Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes is up on one of the streamers right now, and I'm going to watch it soon before it goes back into obscurity. It's been a long time since I've seen that one, but if memory serves me correctly, it's a worthwhile adaptation of a wonderful novel.
I've been rewatching some of the old Hammer films, mainly having them on in the background while writing or reading. I find them very comforting, like an old friend coming to visit me occasionally. To the Devil a Daughter is streaming on the Criterion Channel, the last of the original run of Hammer films before their recent rebrand. I've never seen it, so I definitely want to check it before they take that one out of rotation.
I hope everybody is able to watch all the horror they need to for Halloween.
Don't feel guilty about it.
It's Halloween time after all.
