I'm really trying to branch out with jazz. My two favorites are Miles Davis and John Coltrane, and literally anybody who played with those two giants. Trumpeter Avishai Cohen and pianist Connie Han. Charles Mingus. Sonny Rollins. Thelonious Monk, Marshall Allen (who's 100 years old and still rocking!), Herbie Hancock.

But I'm picky. I don't really care for the bebop sounds of the 1940s, though I can appreciate how Davis and Coltrane were able to expound on those modes with improvisation to get to the more avant-garde/psychedelic jazz.

Psychedelic jazz.

That's pretty much what I'm looking for. When a prog-band, say Pink Floyd, hits on that kind of mode, or even a prog-metal band like Opeth, or Blood Incantation (which are in a class all by themselves like Opeth), that's aural ecstasy for me. I LOVE that kind of stuff.

I've been dealing with a nasty stye on my right eyelid, the worst ever for me. I had a regular checkup with my GP today and got him to prescribe some medicine to help me get over this thing. Mom had one last year and dealt with it for nearly two months, though the medicine helped it heal a lot faster. It's not painful, just annoying and it makes my eye dry out very fast.

It's almost the weekend!
